BEST OF 2007

It really sucks if you release a record too late into December, or in the case of the Sic Alps, it sucks if your record was way too limited for me to get my mitts on. It turns out that for the blink of an eye during which their Description of the Harbor was available, I was at home with the flu and not checking the internet. So, while I fully expect that it's another outstanding record by them, that one misses my "best of 2007" list.

maybe even more than glad... maybe even a way of double-checking that the quality of my own work running a label is meeting a high par... that so many dba items appear on this list. very very cool.

and yes "It really sucks if you release a record too late into Decemeber" because then the robin williams on fire 7" and child p cd would be seen here too. :)

and the sightings and yellow swans lps are in my topX for 07 as well.

No TV Ghost?

That was a very good debut 7", and I'm surely gonna watch that band closely for any upcoming releases. But it misses the cut for very best of because the two copies of the record that I got were both a bit warped, and the mastering was pretty haphazard. "Atomic Rain" is a song that I can recall at any moment...definitely a great song for etching itself into my memory. But I also think that this record coulda been improved with a different recording...preferably one that makes the drums pop and the vocals and guitars lit aflame. Please, TV Ghost fellas, have a listen to the "Black Helicopter" LP by Karate Party or the first A Frames LP.
